We got a moderate amount of snow early in the day today.
We decided to see how lovely it looked in Palo Duro Canyon State Park

I've never been to the canyon during the winter time, at least never when there's been snow. The last two times I went were both in August and it was so hot and dry it was miserable.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and dad used to tell a story of when they were dating and drove to the canyon only to be trapped by a flash flood; dad said the ranger tried to stop them from fording the last crossing, but he shrugged off the warning, telling the park official that he had to get his girlfriend/mom back before dark (when her dad/grandpa) had told them to get back.
Dad said he was a lot more scared of grandpa than the dangerous rising water and much, much more than he was of the park ranger.
I took my British lady friend down there a few years ago (the next-to-last time I went) and even though it was too hot to hike much, she sure enjoyed it.
Great pics!
